Dirty Shirley

9 Aug

Tell me that the name alone doesn’t make you want to give this drink a try? Everyone has a few memories from childhood that really stick out, and can instantly take you back. For me, one of those memories is definitely Shirley Temples. They were always the treat I was allowed order when we ate out at restaurants, and we would make them for the kids for family gatherings all through my childhood. In fact, my mom has several hilarious stories surrounding me slightly over doing it on the Shirley Temples one Christmas Eve, but I will leave that for another time.

When I saw this recipe (also called Cherry Moon) I knew I had to give it a try. It also allowed me to play with flavoured vodka, which until recently I have been staying away from simply because I find it is often very fake tasting and too sweet. I was pleasantly surprised by this cherry vodka, and I absolutely loved this cocktail, it was exactly what I hoped it would taste like. It took me right back to those wonderful childhood memories, in a more grown up fashion.

Enjoy!

You will need:

  • 1 1/2 Parts Cherry Vodka
  • 3 1/2 Parts Lemon Lime Soda
  • 1/2 Part Grenadine

Directions:

Mix above ingredients over ice and garnish with fresh cherries.

This looks so delicious! Shirley temples were my favorite too and I always ordered them when we went out to eat. That was my favorite part of going to a restaurant! Sometimes I still get them:)

Way too funny. . .I was just having a conversation about Shirley Temple’s with someone last week and we both said we hadn’t heard that drink mentioned for many years! We were both saying how that was our drink of choice as children. Then I was craving it, so I ordered it in the restaurant we were at. I felt ridiculous ordering it and felt like a ten year old, but oh, it was delicious. I definitely need to try this adult version! :)
