Built-ins and Bookshelves

Colourful and open built-in book shelves

As we are looking at ways to make the most of our space, I have found so many inspiring ways to create a beautiful space with your bookshelves and built-ins. Also, some of our close friends have recently purchased their first homes, which leads them to having more space to decorate than they previously had and being on the hunt for interesting ways to display and store things. I have been having so much fun getting ideas and inspiration together for them as well, so hopefully this is helpful to find tasteful ways to display beautiful and meaningful items, and also maximize storage space.

I am drawn to colour and collections for the bookshelves, and love all the unique ways you can incorporate a bookshelf into your space.

Which one is your favourite?

Amazing use of space – probably best in an office or room you don’t use 24/7

Beautiful contrasting background and minimal items on display

Colour, warmth and a cozy space – plus a friend to keep you company

Beautiful space for a cozy evening, using all the space available in a tasteful way

Classic & Traditional Built Ins

Stunning and unique reclaimed bookshelf

I have always had a mad love for books. I buy them, but sometimes don’t even read them. I just love to collect them, especially coffee table books. My dream is to one day have an amazing home library, just like your inspiration photos. I think my favourite is the first one, although I would love to have any of those!

I am the exact same with books, but desperately need to find a better way to display and organize them. Hoping to replicate some of these on a smaller scale this fall :) xo K

I love the bookshelves in the shape of a triangle. That is a great use of space. We have built in book shelves on either side of our fireplace and I am (slowly) working to decorate them. We have more shelves than we do decorations!

I love built in bookshelves. My parents recently put some in their house, but they look nothing like these stunning rooms! I would love the color coding books in my house!

I love built-ins and have a set in the basement. I do find it hard to keep them looking good because they are all open…IF I had my way? There would be closed and open shelving…closed for games and toys, open for hardcover books and pretty touches. Whadya think? Signed, mom of 3 who has way too much stuff.

I think that sounds perfect, if only it were so easy :) I can’t even imagine when you factor in the kiddies how much stuff you must accumulate, but I am sure you keep it looking great! xo K
