Fall at Home

28 Sep

Something as simple as filling a glass vase with pumpkins can bring fall inside in no time

I actually haven’t had a chance to do a proper switch of either my wardrobe or our decor for fall yet, but I can’t wait to get through everything next week. In the meantime, I found one quick and easy way to bring fall into our house was to pick up some mini pumpkins and gourds at the grocery store, and it immediately feels more like fall! I was also thinking about some other ways to bring fall into your house with little expense and lots of impact, so here are some suggestions you might want to try out this weekend.

Have you done the fall switch of your wardrobe or house yet? (ps – click any of the photos below to see more)

Fall Casual

Sunglasses – Ray Ban, Scarf – Over the Rainbow, Bracelet – J. Crew, Top – Aritzia, Pants – J Brand, Bag – Coach, Shoes – J. Crew

One thing that is really nice about the cool temperatures is being able to wear jeans and a scarf again, two things that have not seen the light of day in quite awhile in my closet. I am a huge fan of grabbing a scarf to change up an otherwise simple outfit, and mixing stripes and patterns together is definitely still a trend I love. You can’t go wrong with a pair of bright coloured flats in my opinion, they always make everything a little more fun!

Fall Wedding Looks

Fall Weddings - What to Wear
While summer wedding season may be over, October and November seem to be extremely popular months to tie the knot. That leads to an interesting dilemma of trying to reposition one of your summer formal looks or finding the perfect fall piece to add to your wardrobe. I think a great approach is to find something you can also rock over the Christmas season, depending on the types of events you usually have to attend. I love the idea of a long dress since it allows you to avoid wearing the dreaded tights and the fabulous jewel colours that around this fall are absolutely amazing. If you like the idea of a little more coverage for fall, there are fabulous options with sleeves of every length, or you can go for a more classic cocktail dress with some kind of unique detailing like the beaded, lace and metallic ones highlighted here.
What looks are you loving for formal fall attire? Any of these ones fit the bill?

Harvest Punch

25 Sep

With the official start of fall behind us, I hope you are ready for some serious fall inspiration over the next week or so on here. We are starting with the perfect fall cocktail! I was on the hunt for a fun Thanksgiving cocktail (for those of you outside Canada, we celebrate this holiday in less than 2 weeks) and this one fit the bill perfectly. We absolutely love apple cider and everything about it reminds me of fall. Adding in a little maple syrup, rum and lemon to taste – you have yourself the perfect fall cocktail in my opinion. What else do you like to make now that the seasons have changed?

Enjoy!

You will need:

  • 2 oz. rum
  • 5 oz. apple cider
  • 1 oz. maple syrup
  • 1 oz. lemon juice

Directions:

  1. Combine ingredients in ice filled shaker
  2. Pour into glass with apple slices and ice
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick
