A little while ago I mentioned I had figured out what my next home project would be and it included revamping our current spare room into a great area to get ready in. I showed you a bunch of my ideas for creating the perfect vanity space, and now with fall approaching we are ready to start to make an actual plan for the room. In the meantime, I have been trying to organize and purge the space, so that I actually know what I have and want to keep. This included an overhaul of my makeup collection, which was nothing short of liberating, since it was clear I hadn’t done this in a few years when I took a closer look at some of the eyeshadow palettes I had lying around.
So now, with all of my make up cleaned up and streamlined, I am on the hunt for the perfect storage containers and display pieces. Above are a bunch of the inspirations I have rounded up, but would love to hear what you do at home. Do you have a super organized piece like the one featured above, or do you stick with a tray to keep everything contained? Have you ever tried the coffee beans for storage? Because it looks kind of amazing to me!

Good Morning Kendall!
I got some photo storage boxes from the dollar store. I got different sized ones and keep them in the large drawer of my vanity – one for brushes, one for lipsticks, eye shadows, etc. It’s a cheap and easy way to organize a lot of make up
ps. Reading your blog in the morning is a great start to the day! Thank you!
Great suggestions Jodi! And thanks so much for reading, I really appreciate the kind words

I am totally with you there, I am a disaster with my make up! xo K
I love the coffee bean idea minus the having to replace them every so often! I use the clear storage trays you have pictured. Have a perfect one that holds all my polish and essentials. And then 3 rectangular plain ones that hold eyes, lips and face respectively. Anal. That’s me.
Anal or organized, it is all in the eye of the beholder, and I envy your organization! xo K
I adore the coffee beans! I mainly use a bamboo utensils organizer for the drawer, brushes in a cup, and pretty makeup (nail polish, etc.), on top of a mirror tile on the counter. I’m itching to get more organized, though! Have you seen the magnetic makeup plates on Pinterest?

i eat a box of ferrero rochers and then use the plastic box to place nail polish inside. cookie tins are good for storage too! for eyeshadow pallettes and flat stackable things like that, I bought a few rectangular wicker baskets to place inside my dresser drawers… now you’ve got me trying to think of more makeup storage ideas! haha good luck.

I can barely shut my train case that houses most of my make-up & the lip goods are all over the place. Thanks for the tips. Love the coffee bean idea:)
