End of Season Herbs

21 Sep

I can’t believe that it has already been 4 months since we planted our herb garden (my very first attempt at any kind of gardening for that matter) and sadly this week I realized with the colder nights, my herbs were about done. I had seen so many great ways to use herbs creatively on pinterest, I knew I had to share some of them with you. Here are two incredibly simple ways to save your herbs (in this case mint and basil) and also have something nice and functional on hand when you need it. I was a bit skeptical of the basil and oil but it worked so beautifully, I think this will be something I now do year round.

Side note – I would recommend picking up some ice cube trays that you use exclusively for the basil cubes (I went to the dollar store and picked up 2 for $1.49) so that you don’t have to worry about weird after taste in your drinks down the road.

I’ve made the basil cooking cubes before, but never thought to make lemon and mint ice cubes. Thanks for the great ideas.

These are such genius ideas! I especially love the idea of using those ice cubes in martines or to give a hint of freshness to a glass of water. Thanks for sharing!
