I can’t believe it is Mother’s Day again, it literally just feels like yesterday that I did a round up for Mother’s Day last year (you can see them here if you are looking for some other specific types of gifts) but I love looking for nice gifts for mom. Mother’s Day is a great excuse to spend some quality time with your mom and treat her to something special she probably wouldn’t buy for herself.

I tried to round up some picks to help if you are stuck with what to get this year, but I would love to hear what else you are looking at for your mom this Mother’s Day.

I honestly can’t believe it is May 1st today. The last month flew by, but we always say that I find. What makes me happiest about May first is that it is literally the first day of my favourite 5 months of the year. Since we have a pretty long winter up here in Toronto (and this year spring has taken forever to arrive) we have to cherish every single one of the beautiful, warm weather days we are given, and happily they seem to be here to stay this week.

This month I am on the look out for fun pieces that will add a summer touch to my wardrobe, and can also be versatile. This jacket is the perfect mix with the pretty floral pattern, mixed with a black background so it isn’t too precious. I always love a great statement necklace, and the colour and price point of this one is just right. Some cute espadrille flats will carry nicely into summer, and I can never get enough skirts with this cut, in fact I just picked this one up in white and I am dying to get my hands on this gorgeous yellow version. Finally, I am still loving the drop waist, and this piece combined with the easy to wear black and white print is a winner in my book.

My absolute favourite part about the change in seasons to spring is the opportunity to do a little spring cleaning. Sometimes this is simply a closet overhaul, sometimes it is a deep clean of the kitchen, yard, or car, or sometimes it is as easy as changing some of the items around in your house and in your day to day life to bring a little spring into your life.

Here are some of my favourite things to ring in spring, but I would love to hear how you usher in the season.

Spa Week in Toronto

Last night I had the chance to attend the “Spa Social” which was the official kickoff to Toronto’s first Spa Week. For those not familiar with Spa Week (like myself until last night) it is an opportunity to take advantage of great offers ($50 treatments) at many of the best spa’s across Toronto. The event runs from  April 15th – 21st and you can take a look at all the participating spas across Toronto here if you are looking to treat yourself next week. This event has been happening two times a year across many cities in the U.S., but this is the first time it is happening in Canada.

In addition to Spa Week debuting in Canada next week, I also had a chance to meet the founder of WaySpa (they are the ones bringing Spa Week to Canada) and learn a little bit more about their company. Until yesterday, I had never heard of WaySpa, but they are a great Canadian company that partners with many of the best spas across the country to offer a simple, easy way to get gift cards from many of the stores you visit regularly (Shoppers Drug Mart, Target, Costco to name a few) and make your gift giving as easy as picking up a gift card at the check out. You can check out all of the spas affiliated with WaySpa here, and keep your eyes peeled for exciting SpaWeek events heading to many other major Canadian cities in the fall.
